Sustainable Digital Network Transformation at Keele University
The next phase of Keele University digital network transformation
Qolcom have been awarded the next phase of Keele University digital network transformation, to manage and extend the secure high-performing WI-FI across the 617-acre site to almost 15,000 students and staff.
The HPE Aruba platform delivers a unified wired and wireless infrastructure and delivers uninterrupted Wi-Fi 6 access across the campus through 2,000 access points, including buildings and public spaces. The distribution and access layers for each location are on a single architecture comprised of Aruba CX 6300 and 6200 switches.
Head of Networks Services, Mathew Bailey said “the transformational aspect of the IT network reflects a broader mission for the university: in a world gone digital, Keele has a role in building digital literacy and confidence among students, academics, and staff. The student digital experience is key, and this is underpinned by the service from the expert team at Qolcom to deliver a best-in-class managed solution where students can choose the tools that suit them best but to be able to ensure the security of such a diverse environment”.
Keele University is leading the way in sustainability – not just in their ambitions to become carbon neutral by 2030, but also through in investment in their networking infrastructure to extend their teaching and ground-breaking research into climate change and renewable technologies.
Speaking on signing the new contract, David Dunlop said “myself and the team at Qolcom are delighted to be awarded the next phase of the digital network transformation at Keele University, and we look forward to accelerating the network transformation with their ICT leadership team to continually modernise the network to revolutionise their students' educational experience”.
